'Isolation Commission #43 is the second of eight from Music on Main in support of artists from the last three years of their Emerge on Main program. Music on Main is known for pushing the boundaries of music and sound and bringing us artists on the cutting edge, and this is illustrated beautifully in this haunting performance by Kimia Koochakzadeh-Yazdi. The sirens, traffic and other city noises serve as a backdrop to the amazing sonic world Kimia creates, and also reminds us that being able to only create at home comes with many limitations and compromises, and artists are embracing these new parameters and weaving them into their work.
Emerge on Main shines a spotlight on up-and-coming classical, new, and genre-bending musicians. With Little Chamber Music's "Isolation Commissions," Music on Main is supporting alumni artists from the last three seasons.
To support front line artists in this unprecedented time, and to foster reflections on that time from our musical community, Little Chamber Music has created the Isolation Commissions. '
